Bus donation

In recognition of the world class research status and the commendable effort in the fight against COVID-19 of the Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH), the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) in Collaboration with Emory university, Atlanta, Georgia and New York University, New York have on the 18th August, 2020 donated some equipment to DELSUTH. The equipment which would aid in the treatment of COVID-19 patients at DELSUTH include eight (8) Modified Continuous Positive Air-way Pressure (C-PAP) machines (CircumVent) to DELSUTH for a study on non-invasive oxygen delivery to patients with COVID-19.

In the same vein, Total E &P Nigeria kept true to their promise and on the 18th of August 2020 and delivered a second ambulance bus to DELSUTH. As can be recalled on the 18th of March, 2019, while the General Manager of Total E&P Dr. Charles Ngergbara was presenting the first of the two ambulance buses promised DELSUTH, he had stated that a second ambulance would be donated to the hospital in June,2020.

Also, the 3rd of August 2020, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) donated COVID-19 relief materials to DELSUTH. Items donated included: two mobile X-ray machines, five ECG Machines, two Dialysis machines, two Arterial Blood Gas Machines, two mobile ultrasound machines, few monitor, syringe drivers, infusion pumps, thirty Wheel chairs, seven oxygen cylinders, few drugs and consumables for patients.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Onome Ogueh, while receiving the medical equipment and consumables expressed his gratitude to the interventionist   organization for their kind gestures towards DELSUTH. He added that DELSUTH is committed to delivering world class health-care service to Nigerians. However, like the proverbial Oliver Twist, the CMD appealed to other well- meaning Nigerians and organizations to fashion out ways of rendering assistance to DELSUTH as the hospital incurs a lot of charitable expenses.
