The National Association of Resident doctor (NARD) has donated insulin syringes, colostomy bags and other medical consumables to the Delta State University Teaching Hospital. The donations were made on the 11th of January, 2021.

The Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr Onome Ogueh while receiving the donation in his office thanked the President of NARD, Dr Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi for the association’s kind gesture. He saluted the doggedness of the DELSUTH branch of the Association Resident Doctors which made it possible for the NARD secretariat to be domiciled in DELSUTH. Dr Ogueh, while talking on quality of residency training program in DELSUTH, apologised for the delay in completing the renovation work going in the main clinical building, saying that a lot depended on the completion of the clinical building. He requested that all hands should be on deck to ensure the timely completion of the renovation work, and also the quest to fully co-locate the College of Medicine in DELSUTH.

Responding to the CMD’s remarks, the President of NARD, Dr Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi, stated that DELSUTH Management has done a lot for the association, therefore the donation is a part of the association’s Corporate Social Responsibility to DELSUTH. He further stated that besides the donation, other laudable projects the Association had lined up for DELSUTH included the extension of the National Housing Project to Oghara for all interested staff, holding of medical outreach in Oghara, collaboration with Innoson Motors to supply cars and ambulances for the hospital staff at discounted rates. Dr Uyilawa went on to say that he had fixed a meeting with the Comptroller – General of Nigerian Custom to find an avenue for acquiring cheap ambulances for hospitals in Nigeria including DELSUTH.
