The Management of the Delta State University Teaching Hospital recently distributed delivery packs to hospitals within its vicinity. The items were donated to DELSUTH by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The distributed items amounted to 240 pieces of delivery packs for each general hospital and health centres located around Delta state. The aim of distributing these packs was to help in safeguarding the lives of mothers and babies during delivery.
The Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of DELSUTH, Dr Nekwu Okolugbo, while Presenting the item on behalf of the DELSUTH Chief Medical Director, Dr Ogueh Onome (CMD) to the Zonal Medical Directors of the hospitals, stated that the presentation was DELSUTH’s way of extending hands of fellowship to sister hospitals in the state, advising that the items should be used free for pregnant women that come to their centres for delivery.
In Oghara General Hospital, the Chief Store Officer, Mrs Azigbo Caroline, who received the item on behalf of the Zonal Medical Director, Dr Ogueh Daniel stated that Oghara General Hospital received an average of sixty (60) deliveries per month, stating that the presentation is timely and it would go a long way in helping the hospital to carry out deliveries with ease.
At the Central Hospital Warri, Dr Paul Okubor while receiving the item in the company of his management staff expressed gratitude to the Management of DELSUTH, saying, that with the volume of delivery in Warri Central hospital, the delivery packs would help in great measure.
Mr Paul Popo, Chief Administrative Officer, who received the packs on behalf of the Zonal Medical Director of Koko General Hospital, Dr J.S Mukoro, thanked the Management of DELSUTH for the kind gesture shown to Koko indigenes.
Zonal Matron of Ekpan General Hospital, Mrs Kakaede J.O who stood in for the Zonal Medical Director, Dr, Abeke Ufoma promised to make the best use of the delivery packs for women in the Ekpan community.
